In support of a significant Cape Cod water quality initiative, MA Governor Baker has certified a plan developed by the Cape Cod Commission to address water quality issues and restore those waters to levels where they can meet state standards. Also known as the “208 Plan,” it was submitted to the U.S. EPA for review and approval by September 2015. The Plan will help address the problem of excessive amounts of nitrogen pollution, primarily from septic systems, discharged into the water bodies on the Cape. Among the solutions are coastal wetlands and the use of enhanced septic technologies.
